World Languages

We introduce students to the language and culture of other countries and provide them with skills and knowledge they can apply to their own language. Along with their language study, they also learn about the cultures in which the languages are spoken in order to have a broader understanding of people of diverse cultural backgrounds within and beyond the borders of the United States.

To further enhance their language study, many high school students travel internationally through Oakwood's immersion program. For students interested in studying languages beyond the ones formally offered through the curriculum, there are opportunities within the independent study/special topic program to study additional languages such as Latin, Japanese, ASL, and Korean.
