We are so thrilled to have you at our first-ever Virtual Special Event, Sing a Song!
We can’t wait for you to join us on Wednesday, May 26 at 7 PM! We know the virtual registration and live-viewing process can be a little complicated, so in the meantime here are some helpful tips for tuning in to the event and avoiding technical difficulties.
On Wednesday, arrive early! Our pre-show slideshow will begin at 6:50pm PDT and we urge you to log in early. Our entire event will be just about an hour and a half long, so you won’t want to miss a second!
Remember, this is a live event that will only be streamed once and will not have the ability to rewind and rewatch!

HOW TO JOIN THE LIVE STREAM OF Sing a Song
Here's David Hammett again with tips on how to connect and bid during the event:
Still need help connecting? Read on...
On May 26, at 7PM, simply go to event.gives/oakwood on your computer, tablet, or phone browser. We recommend visiting the event page at 6:50 PM for the preshow, before the start time of the event.
You will see the text “START EVENT” on the screen, followed by a “Play” icon with an arrow.
Click the “START EVENT” button (see red box in picture below) to connect to the live stream.
Once you click the “START EVENT” button, if you are not already logged in at this time, you will now be prompted to do so. A pop-up will appear on your screen like the one in the picture below. When it does, click on “LOGIN” (see red box in the picture below).
You may be automatically logged in from when you originally registered if you saved your account information to your browser.
If you do not already have an account at event.gives, you will be prompted to create an account at this time.
Once you are logged in, you will automatically be connected to the live stream.
Now sit back and enjoy the show!
VIEWING TIPS & QUESTIONS
To view the video in full screen, click the full-screen icon in the upper right corner of the video screen.
Are you watching at home?
If you are watching as an individual, make sure the AUDIO and VIDEO buttons are turned on (this is to view and hear the live stream only. You will not be visible on screen).
Are you hosting a Watch Party?
If you are watching in a group, make sure someone is projecting the event onto a shared screen. Then, join the event individually on your phone so you can participate in the live auction later, but make sure you turn off the AUDIO and VIDEO on that device so the sound/video all comes from the shared screen.
Are you a guest at a Watch Party?
Be sure to join from your mobile device to participate in the live auction and virtual paddle raise! Then, you can select the sound and/video icons to remove the sound and video but will leave the bid/donate buttons so you can still place bids and donations!
Will I be seen on the screen?
Nope. This is not like a Zoom call where everyone is seen on screen. You will be watching the show and be able to bid/donate through the button on your screen, but you will not be visible to each other.
HOW TO PARTICIPATE IN THE LIVE AUCTION & VIRTUAL PADDLE RAISE
Support Oakwood directly from your screen! You’ll be able to place a bid for the Live Auction or donate during the Virtual Paddle Raise right from your viewing device!
During the Live Auction and Paddle Raise, a giving button will appear on the screen and our auctioneer will let the audience know when to TAP the button to donate or bid.
Be sure to CONFIRM
(You will be notified via text message if you have the winning bid for an auction item.)
You will also have the option to bid or donate anonymously. Just be sure to confirm your donation and check out at the end of the evening!
It’s that easy! HAVE FUN and THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT!
