Creative Problem Solvers

We encourage our students to become active, creative problem solvers. While we stress the historical significance as well as the practical applications of the concepts we teach, we hope our students will carry with them an appreciation of the beauty of mathematics throughout their adult lives.

MATHEMATICS ELECTIVES


Include Statistics (regular and Advanced Studies), Discrete Mathematics, Advanced Algebra with Financial Applications, and Philosophy of Mathematics. Students can also elect to pursue independent study in many areas of mathematics (see below).

HONORS & INDEPENDENT STUDIES/SPECIAL TOPICS


All students in honors-level courses must maintain a grade average of B or better in order to advance to the next course in that sequence. In addition, many high school students elect to enroll in independent studies or more informal special topic experiences to further pursue concepts related to Mathematics. Sample courses include Combinatorics, Differential Equations, Linear Algebra, Microeconomics, Multivariable Calculus, Modern Cryptography, Game Theory, Advanced Problem Solving, and much more.
